Capitalize Names of People
Capitalize people's names: every name gets a big letter!
1st Grade - English Language Arts - Capitalization
About This Skill
In this Iqleel skill, first-grade students will practice recognizing and using correctly capitalized names, such as Zaid and Maria. Through scaffolded questions, they will learn an essential capitalization rule: all names of people begin with a capital letter. By engaging in this practice, students will understand that a person’s name is a special type of noun that always starts with a capital letter. This skill strengthens their knowledge of Writing Conventions and supports them in writing accurately about friends, family, and characters in stories.
