Students practice applying the distributive property with factors 6 and 7. They use arrays, equations, and word problems to split one factor into known parts such as 3 + 3, 5 + 1, 5 + 2, or 4 + 3. They then choose or build equivalent expressions that keep the other factor the same.

The distributive property lets you split one factor into parts. For 6s facts, try 3 + 3 or 5 + 1. For 7s facts, try 5 + 2 or 4 + 3. Keep the other factor the same in each part. Example: 7 x 6 = (5 x 6) + (2 x 6) 5 x 6 = 30 2 x 6 = 12 30 + 12 = 42 So, 7 x 6 = 42.
